AGF Lateef Fagbemi: "There is no Christian genocide in Nigeria."

Claims of a Christian genocide in Nigeria have been refuted by Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Lateef Fagbemi (SAN). Fagbemi made this claim today, November 15, during a speech at a function in Erin-Ile, Kwara State's Oyun Local Government Area.

maintained that there was no persecution of any religious group in the nation. "Christian genocide does not exist in Nigeria.

No religion, sect, or ethnic nationality is persecuted, he declared.

He emphasized that states like Zamfara and Sokoto, which are primarily Muslim areas, have experienced frequent killings and banditry, and that violent acts were not specific to any one tribe or religion.

"Killings are taking place in Sokoto, Zamfara, and other places where Muslims predominate. That is not to say the situation is okay, but it shows clearly that violence is not targeted at any religion” he said

His comment comes weeks after US President, Donald Trump, declared Nigeria a ‘’Country of Particular Concern' over claims that there is a Christian Genocide in Nigeria.
