"Two of my three children could have become lawyers, but they decided not to pursue law school," said Osinbajo.

 

Former Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo has disclosed why two of his children chose to avoid legal careers despite his attempts to guide them toward the profession.

Speaking in a media coverage by Symfoni TV, Osinbajo attributed their decision to their exposure to the demanding nature of legal practice.

 "I have three children, two of whom could have become lawyers, but they chose not to go anywhere near the practice of law. I think that's because we traumatized them with too much reading and too many books.

 They are not interested at all in the practice of law," he revealed.

Osinbajo emphasized the urgent need to accelerate Nigeria's judicial processes, particularly in civil litigation matters. 

"We can speed up our justice system and improve the efficiency of civil litigation outcomes.

 One of the major problems, I believe, over the years has been the persistent challenge of ensuring that cases move quickly through the courts, especially civil cases," the former Vice President stated.

Osinbajo highlighted how artificial intelligence tools are transforming legal work, sharing insights from his former law firm's recent technological adoption. 

"The law firm I co-founded—and from which I've now retired—recently showed me what they're able to do with some of the AI tools.

 These tools can access the firm's internal databases and generate legal opinions in the language and style of the firm itself. 

They are remarkably close to how we express ourselves—but much faster and smarter," he explained.

The former VP detailed advanced technological solutions now available to the judiciary. "There's even a device that enables judges to write judgments.

 Entire proceedings can be recorded without human interference, and the actual judgment can be generated with multiple outcome options," Osinbajo noted.
