Chelsea were held to a frustrating 2-2 draw away to Brentford on Saturday, and alongside the dropped points came mixed injury news for Enzo Maresca’s side.

With their Champions League opener against Bayern Munich only days away, several key players face fitness battles.

Joao Pedro

The Brazilian forward, who has impressed since his summer switch from Brighton, was surprisingly declared “not fully fit” by Maresca after the Brentford clash.

Despite lasting 79 minutes, Pedro admitted before kick-off that he was not at 100%.

While Maresca would have preferred to rest him with Bayern in mind, circumstances forced him to start.

Chelsea hope he will recover in time for Wednesday’s trip to Munich.

Expected return: September 17 vs Bayern Munich (A).

Estevao

Highly rated youngster Estevao missed the weekend’s game after falling ill on international duty.

No timeline has been set for his recovery, leaving his availability for midweek in serious doubt.

Dario Essugo

The Portuguese midfielder’s Chelsea career has stalled after suffering a thigh injury with the U21s.

Surgery has already been carried out, and he is not expected back until the start of 2026.

Liam Delap

The summer signing endured a hamstring setback in August against Fulham.

His injury came during the same period that Nicolas Jackson’s move to Bayern nearly collapsed. Delap is now targeting a return late in the year.

He has resumed full training but is not expected to feature immediately.
