Gyökeres led the trio with a staggering 54 goals for Sporting CP across Europe, showcasing his clinical finishing and consistency. Meanwhile, Sesko, who joined Manchester United in a reported €76.5 million deal, scored 21 goals for RB Leipzig, and Pedro notched 13 goals for Brighton & Hove Albion.
In a recent interview on talkSPORT, Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler backed Joao Pedro to outscore both Gyökeres and Sesko in the upcoming season. Fowler highlighted Pedro’s Premier League experience as a key advantage, suggesting that Gyökeres might struggle to adapt to the pressures of English football — drawing parallels with Darwin Nunez’s difficult spell at Liverpool.
“For me, it’ll be Pedro,” Fowler said. “I know Gyökeres is coming in, but I think for me he’s unproven. There might be a little too much pressure on him because everyone is expecting goals. It’s similar to what happened with Nunez at Liverpool. Pedro has been in this league, and that experience will help him.”
Former Scotland international Ally McCoist offered a contrasting opinion, predicting Gyökeres will score the most goals. He cited the chances the Swedish forward will get in Arsenal’s attack compared to Sesko and Pedro at their respective clubs.
