Galatasaray's Turkish Super League opener against Gaziantep will not feature Victor Osimhen.

Galatasaray will begin their Turkish Super League title defence without one of their biggest stars, Victor Osimhen, as the Nigerian striker has been ruled out of their opening fixture against Gaziantep on Friday.

Osimhen, who recently completed a permanent move to the Istanbul giants following an exceptional loan spell last season, did not make the squad that travelled to Gaziantep on Thursday, his absence comes as a disappointment to many fans who were eagerly anticipating his return to competitive action in the club colours.

According to club sources, the 26-year-old forward is still working his way back to peak condition after joining pre-season training later than most of his teammates, this delayed start to his preparations means the coaching staff are not willing to rush him into action, prioritising his long-term fitness over an immediate return.

Last season, Osimhen delivered a record-breaking campaign while on loan with the Yellow and Reds, the prolific striker found the back of the net an incredible 37 times and provided eight assists in 41 appearances across all competitions, this remarkable feat saw him etch his name into Turkish football history as the highest-scoring foreign player in a single Super League season.

His goals played a crucial role in Galatasaray domestic success and helped secure their place at the summit of Turkish football, Fans and pundits alike have hailed his impact, with many predicting that his permanent signing will prove vital in their bid to retain the league title and make an impact in European competitions.

However, supporters will now have to wait a little longer to see their talisman back in competitive action, While Osimhen’s absence for the first match is a setback, there is optimism that he will be available in the coming weeks once he regains full match fitness.

Galatasaray clash with Gaziantep will mark the start of what promises to be another intense Super League campaign, the club will be aiming to begin strongly, even without their star striker leading the attack.

Barca never had financial room to register Olmo -La Liga

 La Liga said Wednesday Barcelona did not have the financial capacity to register players Dani Olmo and Pau Victor and still lack it, ahead of a decision by Spain’s sports council (CSD) over the duo’s eligibility to play.
