Despite competition from Newcastle United, Sesko reportedly favors a move to Old Trafford, and according to a report from The Mirror, talks between Manchester United and Leipzig are ongoing, suggesting the deal could be finalized imminently.
However, if Sesko joins the Red Devils, he may need to adjust to a new set of rigorous standards implemented by new head coach Ruben Amorim.
Since taking over in November, Amorim has introduced a series of strict rules aimed at fostering discipline and accountability within the squad, signaling a shift in the club’s culture following a challenging previous season.
Among the first changes Amorim enforced was a ban on complex instructions from coaching staff, emphasizing the importance of clarity and simplicity in communication.
He also restricted players from using international breaks as opportunities for leisure, citing the need for rest and focus. Amorim explained, “We as a club have to set the standards and manage that.
It’s my decision if players can have five days, or three days, or three days to rest, and whether they can fly.
This is something that we as a club must decide, with me responsible for enforcing these rules.”
Further measures include banning food in the dressing room on matchdays to prioritize physical fitness and requiring players on losing teams during training sessions to collect equipment used that day.
These strict protocols reflect Amorim’s commitment to raising standards after Manchester United finished a dismal 15th in the Premier League last season.
Diogo Dalot has publicly acknowledged the demanding environment under Amorim, stating, “If you want to be in Manchester United, you need to match some standards. If you can’t, it’s not a place for you.
The message is really clear.” Such comments underline the club’s current focus on discipline and high performance.
In pre-season, Manchester United has shown signs of progress under Amorim’s leadership.
The team secured a goalless draw against newly-promoted Leeds United, followed by victories over West Ham (2-1) and Bournemouth (4-1), and a draw with Everton (2-2).
The squad is now preparing to face Fiorentina at Old Trafford before opening the Premier League campaign against Arsenal on August 17.
