Medical Booking Made at Old Trafford, Where Attacker Will Get Five Times Current Wage

According to talkSPORT, Manchester United has reportedly taken a significant step toward signing Bryan Mbeumo by tentatively setting up the Brentford forward's medical for next week.

Despite seeing their second bid turned down on Friday evening, United remain locked in negotiations with Brentford and are said to be increasingly confident of striking a deal for one of their top summer targets.

The 20-time English champions initially offered £55 million, which was rejected. Their second proposal, £55 million plus £7.5 million in add-ons, has also been rebuffed, with Brentford holding out for more in the upfront payment.

However, talkSPORT reports that both clubs believe an agreement is close.

Personal terms are already said to be settled, with Mbeumo expected to earn £250,000 per week at Old Trafford, five times more than his current wages at Brentford.

Brentford are fully expecting to lose the Cameroon international this summer. While Arsenal, Newcastle United, and most recently Tottenham Hotspur have shown interest, Mbeumo has reportedly made it clear that Manchester United is his preferred destination.

The 25-year-old enjoyed a standout 2024–25 season, scoring 20 goals and providing nine assists across 42 appearances. United are aiming to finalise the transfer in time for Mbeumo to join pre-season training on July 7.

Should the move go through on schedule, he would be in line for his debut against Leeds United on July 19 before the squad heads to the United States for their summer tour.
