RIVERS: After we reached a consensus and appointed Fubara, he pledged to carry on where Wike left off—Jumbo


 A public affairs analyst, Wisdom Chapp-Jumbo has said that Governor Siminalayi Fubara was elected based on a clear promise of consolidation and continuity of former Governor Nyesom Wike’s developmental agenda.

He made this known during an interview on News Central TV where he reflected on the expectations that guided Fubara’s rise to power.

“When we put together the plan and when we supported Governor Fubara during the elections, his manifesto was consolidation and continuity,” Chapp-Jumbo stated. “All of us, the people, bought into this idea and this manifesto he had put together.

And the idea was that where the other governor stopped, we want to see things continue and this is the direction we want to see things be achieved for the interest of Rivers people.”

His remarks come amid ongoing political tensions in Rivers State between Governor Fubara and his predecessor now Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. The rift has raised concerns among residents and observers who fear that governance may suffer as a result of the political fallout.

Chapp-Jumbo’s comments suggest that the current trajectory of the Fubara administration may be diverging from the expectations of those who backed him, particularly within the political structure built by Wike.

Many in the state are calling for a return to the original vision that inspired widespread support for Fubara’s candidacy. “What the Rivers people want is progress, not political rivalry,” Chapp-Jumbo added.

As peace talks between the two leaders face challenges, political observers continue to watch closely whether Fubara will realign with the promised path of continuity or chart an entirely new course for Rivers State.

Barca never had financial room to register Olmo -La Liga

 La Liga said Wednesday Barcelona did not have the financial capacity to register players Dani Olmo and Pau Victor and still lack it, ahead of a decision by Spain’s sports council (CSD) over the duo’s eligibility to play.
