Manchester United Manager Ruben Amorim has emphasized the importance of maintaining motivation in the Premier League to maximize the club’s financial gains at season’s end.
Currently standing just one step away from reaching the Europa League final after a commanding 3-0 victory over Athletic Club in the semi-final first leg on Thursday, Amorim is nonetheless focused on improving United’s disappointing Premier League form. The Red Devils are currently positioned 14th in the English top flight and have not secured a league victory in their last five matches.
Amorim’s team is preparing to face Brentford this Sunday afternoon. The 40-year-old manager has cautioned his players to stay focused, despite their European success, and not let their league challenges distract them.
“In every game, we have a responsibility to perform,” Amorim stated during his pre-match press conference. “Results matter, and we must recognize the significance of each fixture for Manchester United. The higher we finish in the league, the more financial reward we receive. Beyond that, it’s about pride and fighting spirit.
“Of course, we don’t have much to fight for in the Premier League this season. Our main focus remains on the second leg of the Europa League, which is crucial for us. Nonetheless, we need to remain competitive in every game we play.”
Manchester United’s Summer Transfer Strategy
According to Footballtransfers, Amorim has previously acknowledged that financial constraints will shape United’s transfer activities this summer, with the club planning to offload several players to fund new signings.
Players such as Marcus Rashford and Antony are expected to leave the club on permanent deals ahead of the 2025-26 season. Additionally, promising talents Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho are reportedly attracting interest from Chelsea, fueling speculation about their potential departures.
Regarding new additions, Manchester United is reportedly close to signing Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Matheus Cunha for approximately €73 million. The club also remains keen on securing Napoli’s prolific forward Victor Osimhen, who continues to be a primary target.
