Rivers: Prof. Worika is named the new SSG by Ibas, who makes the first appointment.


 In a statement released in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Rtd), the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, announced the appointment of Professor Ibibia Lucky Worika as the new Secretary to the Rivers State Government (SSG). This is Ibas' first appointment since President Bola Tinubu appointed him following the state's declaration of emergency.

He stated that Worika’s appointment followed careful consideration of his credentials, extensive experience, and performance during rigorous selection process.

The sole administrator stressed that the appointment reflects the administration’s commitment to harnessing the great human capital of the Rivers’ people to work with him to achieve the much-needed peace, stability and security.

In another development, Vice Admiral Ibas announced that Dr. George Nweke, the state's Head of Service, had resigned. Ibas offered his condolences for Nweke's departure and wished him luck in his future endeavors. The sole administrator also announced that Dr. Mrs. Iyingi Brown, the Permanent Secretary, Welfare in the Office of the Head of Service, had been appointed as the acting Head of Service. He congratulated Dr. Brown on her appointment and reassured the state's citizens of his determination to maintain neutrality, peace, and stability.
